Environmental sustainability

We are supporting household, business and financial practices that improve environmental sustainability.

In addition to supporting our customers, we're seeking to reduce the environmental impact of our own operations. We are focused on increasing our use of renewable electricity and reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, waste, paper and water usage.

How we're taking action

Climate and Environmental Strategy

Our five year Climate and Environment Strategy sets out our objective to be a trusted partner for our customers, supporting them to adapt and become more resilient, to a changing environment and economy.

In particular, we aim to be a leading bank in supporting an effective and orderly transition for our large business customers.

Supporting our customers' transition through financing

We’ve set a target to fund and facilitate at least $100 billion by end 2030 in social and environmental activities through customer transactions and direct investments by ANZ.  This includes initiatives that aim to help lower carbon emissions, protect or restore nature, increase access to affordable housing and promote financial wellbeing.

Reducing our own operational footprint

We've developed a suite of targets to reduce the impact of our business activities on the environment.
