Making our contributions count

As an organisation, it’s important for us to make our contributions count for the benefit of our customers, stakeholders and the broader community. This is why, since 2005, we've measured our community investment in accordance with the Business for Societal Impact (B4SI) Framework (formerly known as London Benchmarking Group), a global standard for measuring and managing social impact.

Community grants

We fund causes, projects and charities through a range of different community grants.

Volunteering

We offer all employees at least one day of paid volunteer leave per year to make a positive difference in their communities.

Our employees have volunteered their time and expertise either as an individual or as a group to a range of causes such as mentoring high school students, formulating social media strategies for a community organisation or re-estabilishing habitat for native animals.

ANZ promotes volunteering opportunities in Australia to our employees via our intranet and through GoodCompany.

We always welcome new volunteering opportunities so if you have an activity that would suit an ANZ employee or team please register with us by contacting community@anz.com

Before submitting a request for volunteers, there are a few things you should consider:

  • ANZ cannot guarantee the availability of volunteers for your activity. Volunteering is optional and our people need to register an interest in your activity before a match can be made and the spaces filled.
  • Activities that promote political lobbying, religious activities, illegal activities and profit making organisations will not be promoted to employees.
  • ANZ employees are not permitted to undertake activities that may put their personal safety at risk.

Disaster relief

We support customers and communities to respond and recover from weather-related events.

ANZ’s Disaster Relief and Recovery Policy guides an efficient, coordinated, and proportionate response to disasters. It encompasses a range of measures including hardship assistance and financial support to assist with community rebuilding.

Our emergency relief measures may include:

  • financial assistance package for customers
  • measures to support impacted employees
  • funding for organisations involved in emergency relief – for example direct donations and matching of staff fundraising
  • medium to long-term natural disaster recovery grants administered by Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal
  • mobilising ANZ volunteers to assist with community rebuilding
  • financial advice and planning for recovering local businesses.
