A record 126,422 people across New Zealand, Australia, Asia, and the Pacific participated in ANZ’s MoneyMinded financial education programme in the 2024–25 financial year.
This year’s participant numbers, from its 2025 MoneyMinded Impact Report, mark the second consecutive year of record reach for the initiative, and the total includes more than 19,186 people across New Zealand, Asia and the Pacific.
In New Zealand, ANZ has recently refreshed its MoneyMinded course content and added new partners, including Manukau Institute of Technology, alongside core existing partners like Solomon Group and Community Colleges NZ (ComCol).
A total of 84.2 per cent of MoneyMinded coaches in New Zealand reported youth services as their main focus, reflecting a focus on delivering financial education to young people across Aotearoa.
Among the New Zealand participants, more than half (54.4 per cent) of participants were young adults, one-third (33.3 per cent) were students and one-quarter (25.7 per cent) were unemployed/job seekers.
A significant proportion were also sole parents (32.9 per cent) and/or experiencing mental health challenges (20.5 per cent).
“When people have the knowledge and confidence to manage their money, they are better equipped to deal with life’s challenges, make informed decisions, and build a more secure future for themselves and their families,” said ANZ New Zealand’s General Manager of Public, Consumer & Govt Affairs Peter Parussini.
Mr Parussini said the flexibility of the programme has allowed it to meet the needs of a diverse range of participants, including sole parents, young adults, and people facing mental health challenges.
In the Pacific, the Saver Plus pilot programme, run in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, supported market vendors and microbusiness owners in Fiji and Vanuatu to develop regular savings habits and improve their business prospects.
According to the report, participants were seeing encouraging and tangible results - in Fiji, 85 per cent of participants demonstrated a continuing savings habit over ten months following the programme, while in Vanuatu the figure was 90 per cent.
Many participants reported improvements in self-esteem, reduced stress, and stronger relationships as a result of better money management.
The report states that 87 per cent of coaches across all regions found MoneyMinded to be effective in improving clients’ confidence in managing their money day-to-day.
