First Nations employees in our retail division can access regular secondment opportunities in our technology division to see if moving there is the right career move for them.
The tech secondment I've just started gives me the opportunity to use the skills and knowledge I've built up over the past few years working at ANZ. This is a huge step forward for me towards my ultimate career goal of empowering older and the vulnerable in our communities to feel more confident using ANZ’s digital banking products.
You don't need banking experience to work with us as we need people from all different backgrounds to think big and make an impact in real time.
You don't have to know everything and have all the answers, we're all one big team looking at how we can solve some pretty tricky problems.
Our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive. It’s a big ambition, and we’re all working to bring it to life.
Our commitment to First Nations employees has been a key focus of our Reconciliation Action Plan since it was established in 2007 (the first bank in Australia to have one).
Our commitment to First Nations communities is strong. Employee networks, cultural awareness training, First Nations advisory groups and First Nations-only employee forums are just the start.
At ANZ we pride ourselves on being a great place to belong, as this is a fundamental human need. We strive to create an inclusive environment for everyone – our employees, customers and the community.
This "Marcus Lee" concept seeks to represent the employment opportunities and experience of our First Nations colleagues. Lee explains:
‘This concept symbolises ANZ as an inviting and inclusive workplace that offers a wide and varied range of meaningful career paths for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Inspired by a traditional Aboriginal icon that symbolises a meeting place - on either side of the concentric circles, employment journey pathlines lead in towards the central meeting place, where the dots and lines converge and disperse outwards. The dots and lines symbolise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who enter into ANZ's career paths and find successful employment roles within and across the ANZ organisation.’
Throughout my 10-year career at ANZ, I’ve found immense fulfilment in mentoring both customers and colleagues, witnessing their growth and successes. With eight different roles and counting, I thrive on fostering new skills, investing in people, and participating in leadership programs, which demonstrates ANZ's commitment to people.
As a Mununjali woman at ANZ, I’m able to bring my full self to work. This is through being part of networks like the Reconciliation Network and Ngarga Wangaddja which means I’m always connected to mob at work. And my role gives me the ability to create opportunities for First Nations trainees and drive positive change.
Ready to join a great community and take the next big step in your career?
The only thing more diverse than the job opportunities are the people you'll work with.
