Can I update my name in the ANZ Plus app?
Updating your preferred name
Your preferred name is how we refer to you in the ANZ Plus app. It can be your first name or a nickname, and it may be visible to others.
To update your preferred name in the ANZ Plus app:
- Go to the Profile icon.
- Tap on Profile.
- Select Preferred Name and follow the prompts.
Updating your legal name
Your legal name is what we use for official purposes, including verifying your identity, so it needs to match your identity documents. If you’ve changed your name on your identity documents (due to marriage, reverting to a previous name or any other reason), you’ll need to provide a copy of your current ID reflecting the change.
You can only update your legal name in the ANZ Plus app if you don’t have other ANZ accounts outside of ANZ Plus. We’re working on extending this, but for now please visit a branch if you have other ANZ accounts and wish to update your legal name. For more information, see Updating your legal name at an ANZ branch below.
Updating your legal name in the ANZ Plus app
- Go to the Profile icon.
- Tap on Profile.
- Select Legal Name and follow the prompts.
Once submitted, we’ll email you the outcome of your request – usually in about a day.
In the app, we accept the following government-issued, current Australian identity documents showing your updated name:
- driver’s licence
- passport.
When capturing your document, follow the in-app instructions to ensure all details are clear and easy to read. If a document isn’t captured in full, we won’t be able to process your request.
Where we’ll update your legal name
If your in-app name change request is approved, we’ll update your legal name in your ANZ Plus profile and across your account names for all ANZ Plus personal and joint accounts. It may take up to 48 hours for the change to be applied.
If you've opted in to physical cards, you'll receive your reissued ANZ Plus cards in the mail. You can keep using your existing ANZ Plus cards until they arrive.
Updating your PayID
If you have PayID, your legal name won't update automatically. You'll need to deregister your PayID in the ANZ Plus app and then register it again. To do this:
- Go to the Profile icon.
- Tap on Payment Settings.
- Select PayID and follow the prompts.
Updating your legal name at an ANZ branch
If you have both ANZ and ANZ Plus accounts, you'll need to visit an ANZ branch to update your legal name. We recommend booking a branch appointment ahead of your visit.
Be sure to bring an eligible photo ID and proof of your name change. This can include:
- adoption papers
- birth certificate with endorsement
- court order
- decree nisi
- legal change of name
- marriage certificate.
After you've made the change at a branch, message a Coach to let us know so we can finalise things at our end.
Need help?
If you’re having trouble capturing your document, or if you don't have any of the eligible documents listed, please visit an ANZ branch with proof of your name change.
If you requested a legal name change through the ANZ Plus app more than a day ago but have not received an email notifying you of the outcome, or if you have questions about how the change has been applied, please contact ANZ Plus support.
