What’s impacted when I apply the Digital Padlock?

The Digital Padlock is a last resort lock that prevents digital and card access. Once it’s activated, the restrictions below will apply until you’ve called ANZ and we’re able to remove the Digital Padlock.

While the Digital Padlock is active...

  • Access to ANZ Plus digital channels will be blocked, so you won’t be able to access or manage your banking.
  • Your ANZ Plus card/s (including digital wallets) will be locked, preventing payments, purchases and cash withdrawals. This will also prevent recurring payments you’ve set up using your ANZ Plus card details and may also affect payment reversals or refunds that require you to use your ANZ Plus card or digital wallet.
  • You will not be able to access your statements or notices through ANZ Plus digital channels.
  • Open Banking or data sharing arrangements that access your ANZ Plus account/s or data will be blocked. You also won’t be able to create any new data sharing arrangements or edit/cancel any existing data sharing arrangements.
  • You won’t be able to create or authorise new PayTo arrangements or manage existing PayTo arrangements. Existing arrangements will continue to be processed while the Digital Padlock is active.
  • You will not be able to share any data using ConnectID.

What should not be affected by the Digital Padlock

  • Payments sent to your ANZ Plus account/s (using your account details or PayID) and deposits made into your account should continue to work.
Refunds that don’t require you to use your ANZ Plus card or digital wallet should still be processed.
  • Scheduled payments (once-off or recurring) that you’ve previously set up via ANZ Plus digital channels should still be processed.
  • Home Loan repayments you’ve set up through ANZ Plus digital channels should continue to be processed.
  • Direct debits you’ve set up using your account details should continue to be processed. These can also be managed by contacting the service provider.
  • PayTo arrangements that have been authorised should continue to be processed.
  • Interest, fees, and charges relevant to your account/s or card/s should continue to be processed.
  • Open Banking or Data Sharing arrangements that access data from other sources (e.g. My Accounts) should continue to receive data.
  • You may still receive SMS and/or email notifications from ANZ Plus, such as interest rate changes. If you’re opted in to marketing, this may also include marketing content.
  • You may also still receive some push notifications from the ANZ Plus app (if you have them enabled), e.g. for a successful incoming payment.

For details on joint accounts and other ANZ accounts, please see below.

Joint accounts

If you have joint accounts, the Digital Padlock should not affect other account holders. If they believe the Digital Padlock is required for their accounts, they will need to apply it themselves.

Other ANZ accounts

Activating the Digital Padlock for ANZ Plus will not affect your other ANZ accounts.

This means that you will still be able to log in to the ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking to access your other ANZ accounts, including making transfers from your ANZ accounts to ANZ Plus accounts.

If you're worried about your other ANZ accounts, you can apply the Digital Padlock separately in the ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking.
